Renovation Advice FAQs
1
How is Your Renovation Partner different from a project manager?
A traditional project manager is usually solely focused on managing the delivery of the project- coordinating contractors, timelines, costs and progress.
Your Renovation Partner is a more personal, homeowner focused approach.
I help establish what you actually want from the renovation, how the space needs to work, where to prioritise your budget, which professionals to involve and helping guide you in the many decisions that arise along the way.
That can be anything from reviewing quotes, attending meetings, talking through designs, choosing finishes, finding trades or simply helping you decide what feels right.
It’s less about taking over the project and more about ensuring you don’t feel you’re left navigating it alone.
2
Do you replace my architect, builder or interior designer?
No, I work alongside the professionals either necessary to or already involved in your project. I can help you understand their advice, ask the right questions and make decisions with greater confidence, but I do not replace specialist architectural, structural or technical expertise.
3
Can you help if my renovation has already started?
Absolutely. Some clients come to me at the very beginning of the project, whilst others may get in touch because a project has become overwhelming, communications have become tricky or they simply need help with what to do next.
4
Can you help me find builders and tradespeople?
Yes, I can help you choose tradespeople and specialists for your project, whether these are trusted trades that I have worked with previously or I’m helping you to compare different options in your area.
5
Can you help with layouts, finishes and interior design decisions?
Yes, I can help you to work through layouts, style direction, moodboards, finishes, storage and sourcing decisions. This doesn’t mean replacing an interior designer if you wish to use one but it’s helpful to begin with an understanding of your preferences and your vision for the space beforehand.
6
What areas do you cover?
I primarily work with clients in and around Frome, Bath and the Cotswolds. I do also work with clients in London and can offer remote support further afield.
7
How much does renovation support cost?
The Renovation Roadmap is £795
Ongoing Remote Renovation Support is £795 per month
Renovation Partner Support is £1150 per month
Full details are available on the service pages.
8
What happens during the Renovation Roadmap day?
Full details of the Renovation Roadmap can be found on its dedicated website page but it includes working through your renovation vision, priorities for the space, budget, style, layout, sequencing and steps to make it happen. Afterwards, you receive a concise written roadmap summarising the key decisions and actions agreed, giving you something clear to refer back to when needed.
9
Do you offer remote support?
Yes, Remote Renovation Support is designed for clients who are happy to manage the practical side of their project but want ongoing advice, reassurance and someone experienced to bounce ideas off.
10
Can you help if my renovation has hit a difficult patch?
Yes, I can help you take a step back, work out what is causing the problem, review the options and help you decide on the best way forward. That might involve communicating with trades, reviewing quotes, identifying the right specialist or simply bringing some clarity back to the project. Please note, depending on the nature of the issues, it may only be practical for me to assist if you live in a location where I am available to travel to site.
